Irregular schedules shouldn't mean no community.

Long trips and rotating shifts don't leave much room to build community. Waypoint exists so pilots and aviation people across Atlanta have a standing place to study scripture honestly, ask hard questions, and know a few people who'll notice if they're gone.

I'm a multi-engine flight instructor at ATP Flight School, based out of LZU. Community isn't easy to find in aviation — our schedules conflict with almost everything, including each other. I've felt firsthand how hard that makes it to stay consistent in faith, and I don't think that experience is unusual in this line of work.

God has put this on my heart for a couple of months now, and I believe it's something He wanted me to start. Waypoint is my attempt to build the kind of consistency and community that this job makes so hard to find.

We keep it simple: one evening a week, coffee or a meal, an hour in scripture. Details below — reach out if the time doesn't work with your schedule, we know rosters change.

Common questions

Do I need to be a pilot to come?

No. This started as a group for pilots, but flight attendants, mechanics, dispatchers, controllers, and family members are all welcome.

Do I need to know the Bible well?

Not at all. We explain things as we go and welcome questions at any level, whether this is your first time opening a Bible or your hundredth.

What if my schedule doesn't line up every week?

Totally normal in this line of work. Come whenever you're in town — there's no attendance requirement.

Is there a cost to join?

No, it's free. Occasionally we'll split a meal or coffee, but there's never a cost to attend.
